Experience the Benefits of Colon Hydrotherapy with Our Safe and Effective Treatment

What is Colonic Hydrotherapy?

Colon hydrotherapy, also known as colonic irrigation or colonic lavage, is an holistic wellness treatment that involves the gentle flushing of the colon with purified water. It is a simple, safe and effective way to remove waste and toxins from the body, improve digestion, and support overall health and well-being.

The water works in two ways: firstly, it cleans out waste in the colon, and secondly, it stimulates peristalsis which encourages proper bowel function, helping to return your digestive system to a more natural, healthy state.

People use colonics as a systemic detox programme, or to help provide them with much needed relief from functional bowel problems like constipation, IBS, bloating and diarrhoea. Absolutely, everybody can benefit from having colonics.  The people who are often the most surprised how much waste they are carrying around are those who empty their bowels every day. It is suitable for either gender and for anyone aged between 18 and 80+!

Our colon hydrotherapy services use state-of-the-art equipment to ensure a comfortable and hygienic experience. We use only the highest-quality water and supplies.

Our trained therapist is knowledgeable and compassionate, and will guide you through the entire process. We offer single sessions or packages, as well as a consultation to determine the best treatment plan for your individual needs.

What is involved?

Your first appointment will usually last about an hour and a half and will include a consultation, medical questionnaire and a full explanation of the equipment and procedure.

The speculum is gently inserted and then a gentle infusion of warm filtered water is introduced into the colon via the rectum. The abdomen is massaged at stages throughout the colonic, which can help loosen impacted faeces and mucous which is then discreetly drained away in the wastewater. A closed system machine is used, which means the temperature and pressure is carefully controlled and clean filtered water is fed gently into the bowel. Waste is flushed through the equipment and straight into the waste system so there is no odour to be concerned about. There is no physical exposure to the waste product by either the client or the therapist during the procedure.

What are the potential benefits of colonics?

The potential benefits of colonic treatments are far-reaching. The treatment assists the body’s own mechanism by stimulating the nerves of the colon and helping to improve the motility of the lower bowel which ensures that the body’s waste is properly eliminated. Those clients who present with bowel-related symptoms are often amazed to find that seemingly unrelated problems are also resolved.

As no two people are the same, it is impossible to predict how you might feel following a course of treatment, but generally Colon Hydrotherapy can help to alleviate a variety of digestive issues, including constipation, bloating, and irregular bowel movements. It can also support weight loss, boost energy levels, and improve skin health. In addition, regular Colon Hydrotherapy can help to support the body’s natural detoxification processes and maintain optimal colon health.

Is colon hydrotherapy safe?

Yes, colon hydrotherapy is safe. There are a few health conditions which are contra-indicated for colonics and this will all be covered during your consultation. If you’re really concerned, you can drop Liz an email (hello@ebyogahealth.com) in advance of your appointment for clarification.

The water is introduced at a low gentle pressure, which is even lower than the pressure that stools exert on the bowel wall.

Is it a painful treatment?

The treatment does not cause pain, however it may feel a little odd and some people may experience some mild discomfort or cramping may occur when gas or waste wants to be released. You may experience a ‘strange’ sensation of wanting to go to the toilet but most people get used to this feeling in the first few minutes and even find the treatment unexpectedly relaxing and up-lifting.

How many treatments do I need?

Everyone is an individual and Liz advocates a personalised approach to the treatment regime. It all depends on your condition and on the results of the first treatment.

You will be advised how frequently you should have treatments to maintain your desired level of health as well as other measures such as dietary and lifestyle modifications.

You will be offered help and advice to assist you to achieve digestive regularity, experience higher levels of energy and maintain health without compromising on quality.

Are there any negative side effects?

Unlike regular use of laxatives, which encourage bowel laziness and have many negative side effects, colonic hydrotherapy is not habit forming and in fact, improves muscle tone.

Will I be okay to drive home afterwards?

Absolutely. You should be able to resume your normal day, but if you’ve never had a colonic before, it would be ideal if you can plan your first appointment on a day when you can take it easy afterwards.

Can I have a colonic if I have my period?

Yes, it is absolutely fine to have a colonic whilst having your period. In fact, it can often help to reduce period cramps and discomfort.

What should I eat before and after I have my treatment?

You would be advised not to have a large meal before or after your colonic but do eat something. Try to avoid rich, fatty meals and alcohol after your treatment.

What do I have to wear?

Please just wear your normal clothing. Clients’ modesty is preserved at all times. You will be fully covered, protected and warm during your treatment. En-suite toilet and washing facilities are available for your exclusive use.

Will I lose weight?

You may lose weight however you only lose waste not fat or cellulite. Most people feel lighter after the treatment. If you start eating less, increase your fibre intake, move or exercise more, chew better and drink more water, then you will be on your way to achieving a permanent weight loss.
