Reiki Healing
Reiki is a Japanese word (pronounced Ray-Key) translated means universal life energy. It is a gentle non intrusive hands-on-therapy whereby the therapist channels this life energy through her hands to the patient. Reiki energy heals on a deep level treating mind, body and spirit, enabling it to find the origin of illness or problems. It releases the nervous system and works to create a state of balance within the mind and body.
Reflexology
Reflexology is an ancient therapy first used by the early Chinese and Egyptians. Every part of the foot corresponds to a certain organ, function or part of the body. These points on the feet are stimulated by the pressure of fingers/thumbs to free energy blockages, cleanse the body of toxins, relieves tension and induces deep relaxation. Reflexology treats the body as a whole, treating the cause as well as the symptoms.
It has been successfully used to treat many of our everyday problems including:
Migraine - Asthma - Sinus Conditions - PMT - IBS - Joint and Back problems and many more
Children are especially responsive to therapy.
Historical Background
Reflexology has been used for several thousands of years. It became known to the western world at the beginning of this century through the work of Dr. William Fitzgerald. He described how the body could be divided into zones, each of which relates to the parts of the body have corresponding zones on the feet. All the parts of the body have corresponding reflex areas on the feet, the right and left sides being represented in the right and left feet respectively.
Treatment
The hands (mainly the thumbs) are used to put pressure on the reflex areas on the feet. As the pressure is applied, there may be sharpness or tenderness in some areas which perhaps are out of balance. Pressure is adjusted to suit each individual patient, therefore the treatment is not painful.
After Effects
After reflexology, different reactions may take place as the body endeavours to remove unwanted toxins and the body’s eliminatory systems may become more active. These reactions are normally not severe and will soon pass. There is often a feeling of tiredness and well-being. The treatment is found to be extremely relaxing and thus beneficial when so many conditions are stress related.
Applications
Treatments can help a variety of different complaints including tension and stress, migraine, hayfever, sinusitis, back problems, neck and shoulder stiffness, menstrual and menopausal problems, kidney disorders, skin problems, circulatory problems.
